Overview

Responsible for creating diagrams for Gas Utility Pipeline projects. The Piping Designer/Drafter will be responsible for preparing layout and design of systems using AutoCAD Plant 3D modeling software. This position will function under the direction of Lead Designer. This position is responsible for understanding and completing drawings in accordance with client specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare layout and design of oil & gas piping design systems using AVEVA (P&ID, E3D, etc.) and/or AutoCAD Plant 3D software.
  • Producing quality piping design layouts, orientation of process equipment and interconnecting piping.
  • Generating Piping Line List and Tie-In list when required.
  • Assist engineers and designers in resolving piping design issues.
  • Calculating lay out rights-of-way and/or street dimensions and angles.
  • Generating Iso-Metric Drawings using AVEVA E3D and/or Plant 3D.
  • Constructing dimensional relationships of one part to another and a relationship of various parts to entire project, utilizing knowledge of engineering practices and mathematics.
  • Creating a preliminary and/or final sketch of proposed drawing, using computer-assisted design/drafting equipment.
  • Incorporate redlines provided by the engineer.
  • Ability to validate design information (material spec, constructability, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years design experience.
  • 1 to 5 years AutoCAD Plant 3D experience.
  • Designer with SoCalGas experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of pipe and fittings, valves, and piping specialties preferred.
  • Knowledge of AVEVA (software P&ID, E3D, etc.).

Wage Data Per State Requirements

Salary range for this position is $60,000 - $95,000.  The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
