Overview

E2 is looking for a Substation Responsible Engineer to join our team and support one of our major electric utility clients in Pomona, CA.  The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and managing engineering work independently in support of substation electrical engineering involving application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of assigned engineer project delivery tasks. He/she will act as the responsible engineer for electrical engineering projects and will report directly to our client’s regional manager regarding the status and progress of his/her assigned projects. He/she will be part of the Project Team and will be responsible in attending and/or managing jobwalks, project meetings, construction meetings, etc. and all related project activities for the successful submission of project deliverables on time, within budget, and acceptable quality.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project scope of work documents and project design schedule.
  • Arrange and conduct project site visits and prepare and issue meeting minutes.
  • Review consulting design firm’s project estimates and track, review and approve change orders.
  • Attend project status meetings and resolve project technical issues.
  • Issue project packages to construction and provide construction support.
  • Prepare equipment specifications for procurement of major equipment.
  • Performs quality control reviews of design calculations, and drawings.
  • Provides short term field support during construction.
  • Coordinate design activities with other disciplines (Protection, civil/structural, telecom, transmission, etc.)
  • Serves as technical advisor for the team.
  • Properly apply client’s substation design standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Level 2 – 4+ years of substation design experience
  • Level 3 – 8+ years of substation design experience
  • Level 4 – 12+ years of substation design experience
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Preferred

  • Professional Engineer’s License in Electrical Engineering preferred but not required.
  • High level understanding of Southern California Edison’s substation design standards
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

Pay band:

Level 2 - $110,000 to $130,000

Level 3 - $130,000 to $150,000

Level 4 - $150,000 to $175,000

Wage Data Per State Requirements

The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $175,000.  The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
