Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Continuous Improvement Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a mid-level professional with a proven track record in applying continuous improvement methodologies within the Utility and Energy sectors. This role is crucial for enhancing our operational efficiency, building organizational capacity, and fostering a sustainable culture of continuous improvement across our utility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance Operational Efficiency:
    • Lead the identification, analysis, and implementation of process improvement opportunities across various utility operations, including but not limited to, engineering, field services, customer service, and asset management.
    • Utilize data analysis and process mapping to identify bottlenecks, waste, and inefficiencies.
    • Develop and execute project plans for process improvement initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Build Organizational Capacity:
    • Serve as a subject matter expert in continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Agile.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate these methodologies into daily operations and project execution.
    • Facilitate workshops and problem-solving sessions to drive structured thinking and effective solutions.
  • Foster a Culture of Continuous Improvement:
    • Design and deliver training programs and coaching sessions to build continuous improvement skills at all levels of the organization.
    • Mentor and coach team members and leaders to become champions of continuous improvement, empowering them to drive change independently.
    • Promote a culture of innovation, learning, and accountability for process excellence.
  • Ensure Measurable Outcomes:
    • Define clear, quantifiable success metrics for all improvement projects (e.g., cost savings, cycle time reduction, error rate reduction, customer satisfaction scores).
    • Establish systems for tracking, monitoring, and reporting on the performance of implemented improvements.

Present project results and value to stakeholders and leadership, demonstrating a clear return on investment

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a continuous improvement role within the utility, energy, or a similar highly-regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Certification (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green Belt) is preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead projects, manage stakeholders, and drive change in a complex organizational environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in process mapping tools and data analysis software (e.g., Minitab, Excel, Power BI).

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with a utility-specific asset management system (e.g., SAP, IBM Maximo).
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring junior team members.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.

Wage Data Per State Requirements

This position will pay between $95,000 - $159,000.  This rate will be based on Experience.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment and uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
