Overview

E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. (E2) is looking for a drafter/designer to join our team to support several major electric utility clients across the country. The position will work on a hybrid schedule out of our Pasadena, CA office. For candidates outside of this location, a remote role is available.  This position will function under the direction of the lead transmission engineer and requires a strong understanding of utility standards, client specifications, and must be highly skilled in PLS-CADD and AutoCAD. The role will report directly to the Transmission Engineering & Design Department Manager.

Responsibilities

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare layout and design of transmission line systems using AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, O-Calc, or SPIDA Calc.
  • Produce high-quality structure spotting, plan & profile drawings, and conductor configurations.
  • Generate structure schedules, stringing charts, and material take-offs when required.
  • Assist engineers and designers in resolving transmission line design issues.
  • Calculate right-of-way alignments, clearances, span lengths, and angles in accordance with utility standards and NESC or GO95 requirements.
  • Establish dimensional relationships between structures, conductors, and equipment using knowledge of engineering practices and mathematics.
  • Create preliminary and final drawings using computer-assisted design/drafting software.
  • Incorporate red lines and markups provided by engineers or client reviewers.
  • Validate design information such as structure type, conductor specifications, material standards, and constructability.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment to meet project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

 

Required

  • Associates in drafting/design or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience drafting/designing bulk power transmission lines
  • Advanced proficiency using AutoCAD
  • Intermediate proficiency using PLS-CADD, SPIDAcalc, and/or O-calc Pro.
  • Basic, but clear, verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding of NESC, GO 95 (California), or similar standards.
  • Must be detail-oriented, with the ability to produce accurate drawings and thoroughly check work

 

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s in drafting/design or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience drafting/designing bulk power transmission lines
  • Advanced proficiency using AutoCAD
  • Advanced proficiency using PLS-CADD, SPIDAcalc, and/or O-calc Pro.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced understanding of NESC, GO 95 (California), or similar standards.

Wage Data Per State Requirements

Salary range for this position is $65,000 - $105,000  The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
